Lab Assistant PRN at Lifepoint Health

Job Description

• Andalusia Health
• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, testing and transporting specimens.
• Collects specimens using age appropriate techniques
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
• Follows standardized procedures to help prepare samples for testing.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
• Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
• Performs both manual and automated tests using computerized instruments and automation.
• Perfroms quality assurance work to ensure accuracy and ensure CLIA and Joint Commission compliance

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Required Skills

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) **obtained within 30 days of hire.
