Lab Technician (Labworld) (Isando) at AFGRI Equipment

Description

• Wet chemistry analyses of samples as per applicable procedures.
• Analyses of all nutritional aspects, including, but not limited to protein, fat, fibre, starch, moisture, digestibility's and minerals – technicians work on a rotation schedule.
• Basic maintenance of equipment as per the analysis area.
• Actively participate in developing and maintaining the ISO 17025 quality system as well as the OHSE system.

Requirements

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING

• National Diploma or BSc in Chemistry

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar laboratory environment (nutritional analyses)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Perform analyses of samples according to methods.
• Calculate and capture results on LIMS.
• Update QC charts
• Draft quality documentation and spreadsheets.
• Capture data onto AIMS.
• Assist with recording data onto registers, e.g., stock taking.
• Perform basic maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in developing and maintaining the ISO 17025 quality system.
• Adhere to the OHS system and ensure safety guidelines in all methods.
• Participate in either the fire team or the OHS representative.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/ COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of Chemistry
• Experience in an animal feed laboratory will be an advantage
