Laboratory Supervisor - Hotazel at Bureau Veritas Group

• Bureau Veritas Inspectorate Laboratories (Pty) Ltd (part of the Bureau Veritas Group of Companies) is recruiting a Laboratory Supervisor to assist with duties in the Laboratory. The incumbent will assist with the efficient running of the operations.
• This Position will require shift word, reasonable overtime and weekend work as determined by the requirements of the operations.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• 2+ years’ experience in a Laboratory environment
• Experience in onsite mining operations (sampling, preparation, and testing)
• Knowledge of ISO 17025
• Computer literate (proficient use of Microsoft Office programs)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-reliant, flexible and confident
• Ability to cope well under pressure
• Highly organised and self-driven
• Ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Specification

Main Responsibilities:

• Supervising staff on shift
• Allocation of section work priorities in consultation with the Laboratory Manager
• Participating in the drafting and revision of quality procedures and work instructions
• Minimizing wastage of consumables in the laboratory and reducing breakdowns and downtime
• On-going training and staff development
• Undertaking or instructing staff to undertake the periodic calibration of specified equipment in the section
• Optimizing turnaround time for samples whilst ensuring the highest quality of results is achieved and maintained
• Checking and approving outgoing analytical data
