Law Enforcement Officer X 5 Fixed Term Contract (36 Months) at Ubuntu Local Municipality

JOB PURPOSE

• To ensure municipal by-Laws, traffic Legislation and other applicable laws within the jurisdiction of the Municipality, to promote public Safety, order and compliance. The officer will conduct visible patrols, respond to incidents, issue notices and fines where necessary, and assist in maintain law and order through education, prevention, and enforcement measures. The role ensures the protection of lives and property and contributes to the effective implementation of local government regulation.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12
• Valid Code driver's license,
• No criminal record
• High Level of Responsibility
• Minimum of 2 years experience
• Ability to communicate in at least 2 official languages

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Enforcement and Public Safety: Enforce Municipal by laws and legislation through patrols, inspections, response to complaints and issuing of fines and compliance notices.
• Traffic Management: Direct and manage traffic flow, attend to accidents and breakdowns and enforce national and Local traffic regulations.
• Compliance and Legal Enforcement: Conduct roadblocks, inspections and vehicle checks; issue summonses, executed warrants, and impound vehicles when necessary.
• Licensing and Testing: Administer learner's and driver's license test and perform roadworthiness testing of vehicles in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act.
• Emergency and LawDisaster Support: Provide support during accidents, fire and disasters in collaboration with emergency services and disaster Management teams.
• Community and Interagency Collaboration: Participate in joint operations with SAPS, fire services and community forums.
• Administrative Functions: Complete reports, logbooks, summonses, and statements, maintain records on the E-natis system and occurrence books.
• Vehicle equipment Maintenance: Ensure municipal vehicles and equipment are maintained, inspected and used in accordance with Municipal policy.
• Occupational Health and Safety: Adhere to all OHS regulations, use prescribed PPE and ensure safety during operational duties.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Candidates may undergo a physical fitness assessment and background checks.
• Require to wear uniform and PPE as prescribed.
• Must be willing to work irregular hours and respond to emergency callouts.
