Lead Product Designer - Cape Town at Yoyo

Your role and responsibilities will include:

• You will be working closely with the product manager, development team, and leading the product design team, which will consist of yourself and 3 junior / mid product designers.

Team Development

• Yoyo is establishing a digital design hub within this client which will lay the foundation of their design centre of excellence.
• You’ll be a part of the process for growing the team that you will be working with. 
• Lead your design team, guide and mentor, helping them develop their skills and grow as product designers owning the breakdown and allocation of design work within an agile work environment. 

User Research

• You’ll be responsible for driving and leading the user research phase, gathering insights and data to build a robust and attractive product for its users. 
• Setting up user interviews and managing user / usability testing during the design life cycle.
• You’ll be responsible for sharing the knowledge within your design team - showing them the ropes so that they can assist you in your work, learn and grow.

User Experience

• You will be working closely with the business stakeholders and product team to transform concepts into beautiful workable solutions that add user value from the get go.
• You will define the User Experience vision for the product, communicating the strategy, and design principles.
• You will get your hands dirty creating wireframes, prototypes, developing the concept phase and fleshing out UI that illustrate the vision for the product.
• Be interested and knowledgeable of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in User Experience Design.

Strategic Design & Business Partnering

• Establish a Design System that you and your design team can build on and maintain.
• Developing on the existing brand and weaving in your design flair into digital deliverables.
• You will manage technical constraints, business goals and user needs with stakeholders, developers and the broader team.
• Collaborate strategically with the brand and marketing team to align product design with CI and brand goals.

Qualifications

• A reputable qualification in Design. 
• If you have qualifications in a related field that can benefit you in this role, it will be a bonus.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a UX / UI / CX role.
• Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD and related design software.
• Experience with leading and mentoring a team.
• Experience working within a cross functional team including business stakeholders, developers, product manager and marketing team.
• Good working experience in executing successful products from inception to launch.
• Experience in the user research phase is critical. 
• Experience in designing for the Financial Sector or payment platforms will be a plus to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
• A portfolio of evidence that showcases a range of User Experience projects or case studies that you would be proud to present.
