Lead: Project Management Office at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• To optimise and enhance project delivery and autonomous decision making within Product Lines across the Enterprise through:
• Leading, growing and mentoring a community of Senior Project Managers who will be responsible for delivering strategic initiatives and projects across the Enterprise.
• Embedding project management standards, methodologies, processes, tools and systems across the business in line with best practice and the Capitec recipe.
• Enabling the adoption of the Agile Project Methodology (with associated standards and practices) across the Enterprise.
• Supporting ongoing assessments of organisational project management and agile maturity.
• Continuously improving the Centre of Excellence for the Project Management Office (PMO CoE).

Experience
Minimum experience:

• At least 10 years’ experience in a project management environment, of which 8 years as a Project Manager.
• At least 3 – 5 years experience in an Agile organisation, working with Agile principles and practices.
• Experience in managing projects in a medium to large enterprise organisation.
• Experience in applying project management techniques (WBS; facilitation of large groups; reporting; risk and issue management; testing).
• Experience in implementing and administering Enterprise Systems (system thinking).
• Microsoft Projects, Project Planning and Reporting tools and technologies

Direct Reports:

The job holder has no direct reports, but will provide technical leadership to Project Managers (reporting into Product Lines) from a Centre of Excellence perspective.
Qualifications (Minimum)

• A relevant qualification
• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• PMI Accredited Project Management Certification
• Certification in Physics

Knowledge
Minimum knowledge

• Project Management practices and theory
• In-depth knowledge on Project Portfolio Management in a large organisation.
• Sound knowledge of Agile principles, metrics and their applications, as well as the organisational benefits it delivers.
• Understand the Enterprise Governance Structure within which the Project Portfolio operates, to ensure alignment and integrated processes.
• Project Management techniques (i.e. Waterfall, Agile, WBS; group facilitation; reporting; risk and issue management; testing)
• Project Management tools (i.e. MSP; JIRA; Confluence etc.)
• A strong understanding of Microsoft Excel and Data Systems
• Software Development Life Cycle
