Supports delivery against the Maritime Academy goals and strategy; updating learning solutions, building relevant functional/business capability on an on-going basis
Manage a professional, effective Maritime and Learning and Development implementation plan to support the business objectives
Development New Entrants into the Maritime Industry as per Oceana and the Maritime Academy's strategy
Conduct the Training Needs Analysis for relevant business areas and from this execute or develop initiatives that will ensure that the business training needs will be met
Identify Maritime skills development initiatives that will contribute to achievement of the organisational goals/needs/pipeline requirements in line with the BBBEE strategy
Coach and guide all relevant functional areas on learning and development processes and systems
Implement Skills Development Projects for the group in line with the BBBEE strategy
Work with the relevant HR team to ensure that departmental training records are maintained i.e. Workplace Skills Plan & Annual Training Report, ensuring that these are readily accessible and adhere to all the business and legal requirements
Provide assistance with the completion of monthly reports that fall within Learning and Development/The Maritime Academy.
Ensure the completion of SETA Workplace Skills Plans, Annual Training Reports for the group as well BBBEE Reports
Manage contracts, all grant applications and/or SLA's relating to all Skills Development matters and programmes, the training provider and the relevant SETA.
Develop, deliver and implement training solutions, calling in additional or specialised resources where required
Manage training resources and budget
Day to day management of the Maritime Academy as part of the Maritime Academy Team
Effective management of training providers and partners
Support the Academy Manager in the accreditation process for the Maritime Academy
Stakeholder engagement with key stakeholders to the Maritime Academy
Support the development of Small-scale fishers as per the Maritime Academy Strategy
Knowledge, skills and attributes:
Experience in the Maritime Industry
Sea time an advantage
Understanding of the career pathways in the Maritime Industry including sea time requirements.
Competency and Capability development process knowledge
Assessor accreditation desirable
Local travel will be required
High degree of current technical knowledge
High degree of accuracy
Excellent Interpersonal communication skills
Ability to apply initiative, good judgement and creative thinking
Meticulous attention to detail
Good business acumen
Ability to work under pressure and be dead-line driven
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant tertiary degree
Minimum 5 years relevant experience
Experience in relevant development programmes / initiatives
Knowledge of the Skills Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment is advantageous
Experience or knowledge of digital / online presence and content strategy is beneficial
Previous experience in submission of ATR/WSP's and knowledge of SETA processes and requirements beneficial
