Key performance areas

• Conduct pre-school screenings and scholastic assessments to identify learners at academic risk.
• Use relevant reading and spelling tests, word chains, and learner work samples to assess readiness and scholastic levels.
• Provide feedback to educators and parents, compile reports, and make referrals to therapists or multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop individual intervention programmes tailored to learner needs.
• Monitor learner progress through follow-ups, round table discussions, and collaboration with professionals.
• Support educators and parents through training sessions, workshops, and information sharing on identifying learner challenges and managing special requirements.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 (additional qualifications in education, psychology, or learner support advantageous).
• Experience: At least 1 year in an educational environment, with exposure to learner support or remedial processes.
• Skills: Assessment and screenings, Microsoft Office/computer literacy.
• Attributes: Patience, empathy, resilience, proactivity, problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills.
