    Lecturer: Psychology

    Core Purpose of the job: 

    • Facilitate learning and teaching with undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students
    • Contribute within the areas of Clinical Psychology, both to student professional development and to the Department of Psychology itself
    • Process and administer aspects related to the area of Clinical Psychology within the Department. 

     

    Key performance areas:

    • Facilitate learning and teaching (including e-learning)
    • Facilitate academic development
    • Develop and evaluate learning, teaching and support materials
    • Provide mentoring and clinical supervision
    • Provide research supervision
    • Conduct research
    • Perform administrative duties
    • Involvement in community engagement.

     

    Core competencies:

    • In-depth knowledge and grounding in Clinical Psychology
    • Facilitation of learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Sound IT knowledge and expertise in technology for blended learning
    • Clinical and research supervision of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students
    • Knowledge of programme and curriculum development
    • Experience in academic administration and programme management and coordination
    • Preparation of publications for journals and/or the preparation of presentations/papers for national and international conferences.

     

    Minimum requirements:

    • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology
    • Registration as a Psychologist (Clinical) with the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
    • A minimum of three years’ registration
    • Engagement in a major research project (e.g., doctorate) or part of a research team
    • Potential to/has acted as co-supervisor for postgraduate research (Honours and Masters)
    • Experience in facilitating learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Experience in the broad academic discipline of Psychology.
