    Legal Advisor

    Job Description

    Bosch is looking for a top calibre and experienced commercial attorney to be part of the legal department providing advisory and legal services throughout Africa. The successful candidate must be an admitted attorney with strong administrative and computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills and will need to have initiative to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple business areas and jurisdictions.

     

    Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Draft contracts in line with applicable legislation;

    • Review contracts, policies, and processes to align with internal company requirements and legislative requirements and changes;

    • Provide legal opinions and advise on queries raised by internal stakeholders from various business units and departments;

    • Support the implementation and effective incorporation of legal requirements into commercial and business activities. Drive consistent application of legal compliance and processes, fostering a culture of ethics and compliance;

    • Manage the legal documents repository in collaboration with internal stakeholders;

    • Provide monthly reports to Manager;

    • Have a general understanding of applicable legislation to a sales environment within established local and cross-border sales and distribution partners;

    • Providing support in discrete legal issues by advising the organization, drafting undertakings and structuring remedies for the relevant issues;

    • To conduct legal analysis and research on various legal matters of the organization;

    • Management of legal accounts/invoices and processing of payments;

    • To draw up formalities regarding the settlement of disputes and monitor the implementation of the legal requirements;

    • To advise on legal matters including:

      • indirect channel (distributor and agent) related matters (including review and approval of distributors, negotiation of distributor agreements, advising on renewals and terminations);

      • interactions with various stakeholders in the various different industries the company is involved in (automotive, power tools, etc);

      • dispute resolution and litigation (with support of outside counsel);

      • training and education of the local organization on relevant topics;

    • These topics may include the consideration of various areas of the law and regulations, competition law and related pricing issues, public procurement law, Intellectual property, consumer law and product liability, data privacy and protection, anti-corruption laws, and sanctions and embargoes and related activities.

    Experience required:

    • Minimum 5 years’ post qualification legal experience in a similar role at a highly regarded law firm and / or an international company;

    • Excellent communication skills (including report writing);

    • Fluency in business / legal English, both written and oral;

    • Multi-national/multi-cultural experience beneficial;

    • Cross boarder experience in contracting and disputes will be an advantage;

    • Industry experience (in automotive or power tools) highly desirable, but not essential;

    • Solid track-record of understanding and dealing with complex legal matters;

    • Solid experience in drafting and vetting of contracts.

    Additional Comments:

    • This position reports to the Head of Legal: Africa South;

    • Some out of standard working hours will be required;

    • Some local and international travel will be required.

    Qualifications

    • Strong academic credentials and degree from a recognized law school in South Africa;

    • Admitted attorney in good standing.
