    Legal Advisor

    Job Description
    The ideal candidate should have:

    • An understanding of Town Planning principles and the applicable land use management legislation and policies.
    • Experience in agreements of sale of property, sectional title units and land availability agreements.
    • Experience in commercial agreements and the execution thereof.
    • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

    The candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day legal administration and reporting, in line with the company’s requirements and objectives and assist in operational and transactional activities, including but not limited to:

    • Legal, Statutory and Regulatory documentation;
    • Valuation and Survey documentation;
    • Development and commercial transactions and agreements (budgeted costs, consultant appointments;
    • Construction Agreements (JBCC);
    • Town Planning relation documentation and implementation; and
    • Finance Documentation (Guarantees, security documents, cashflows etc).

    Contract related Responsibilities

    • Interpreting Legal Agreements, i.e. Lease Agreements, Agreements of Debt, Sale and land availability agreements, building contracts, development agreements.
    • Consultation with the Company’s legal team to ensure compliance with agreements as well as managing risks on leases or contracts negotiated with third parties.
    • Manage tracking and safekeeping of original agreements, bank guarantees, title documents relating to the ownership of properties including al relevant building approval, zoning approvals governmental permits or other authorizations.
    • Bank Finance Agreements
    • Management Agreements
    • Letters of Demand

    Transaction related responsibilities

    • Ensure effective and timely project reporting of all transactions and associated activities.
    • Compile minutes and submit board packs to allow for informed decisions and feedback.
    • Ensure project administration, reports etc are delivered on time and within budget to the relevant parties.
    • Ensure transactions are managed in accordance with the relevant processes and protocols, including completion/co-ordination of all required documentation.
    • Monitor and provide feedback on critical dates and contract management (lease expiry dates, contractual deadlines as well as the planning accordingly thereto).

    Day-to-day liaison with:

    • Internal and external stakeholders.
    • Property Management Team.
    • Legal Team.
    • Finance Team.
    • Development Management Team.
    • Town Councils/municipalities.
    • Financial institutions.

    Qualifications

    • LLB or relevant law degree, Bcom degree
    • Completed Articles of Clerkship.
    • 4 years relevant experience post articles
    • Admitted Attorney (must be admitted).
    • Driver’s license and vehicle.
