    Legal Assistant

    PURPOSE STATEMENT

    • To provide administrative support to the Legal Manager/Legal Department, ensuring efficient operation through a range of tasks related to the company, Legal and Administrative procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FORMAL EDUCATION 

    •  Matric
    •  Computer Literacy

    TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

    •  Relevant Diploma and/or Certificate in a Paralegal and/or Legal Secretarial study preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    •  At least 8-10 years proven experience as a Legal Administrator/Secretary or similar role.
    •  Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols.
    •  Experience with legal document preparation and reporting.
    •  Proficiency in MS Office
    •  Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    •  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    •  Excellent command of the English language.
    •  Attention to detail.

    COMPETENCIES KNOWLEDGE

    •  Understanding of legal terminology and documentation.
    •  Familiarity with contract drafting and rights management

    SKILLS

    •  Proficient typing skills
    •  Efficient in managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
    •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    •  High level of organizational and planning skills.
    •  Excellent presentation and computer skills.
    •  Must be able to work independently.

    MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Legal Documentation Management

    •  Provide administrative support in preparing, typing and managing legal and other documents as
    • requested from time to time, while maintaining meticulous legal files.
    •  Ensure all documentation complies with the relevant regulatory frameworks.
    •  Provide strong administrative support in evaluating and drafting legal agreements and other documents as required.
    •  Maintain and update the legal documentation system and database consistently.
    •  Coordinate responses to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely communication.

    Litigation & Risk Support

    •  Assist with coordinating litigation matters as required.
    •  Support the legal team in monitoring and reporting on potential legal risks.

    Administrative Support for Tenders

    •  Assist in the compilation and submission of tender documents.
    •  Provide administrative support in contract management and monitor contractual compliance.

    Legal Reporting

    •  Assist in ensuring that Legal reports are compiled & submitted monthly.
