Local Economic Development Officer REF: HRM260910/04 at Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality

Requirements:

• Grade 12 Relevant diploma or degree in Public Administration/ Administration /Development studies/ Local economic Development Minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience in local economic development at a local government level A valid code B driver’s license is essential. 

Competencies:

• Research and Analysis Public Consultation Socio-Economic / Socio Political Awareness Planning and Organising Programme and Project Management Problem Solving Service Delivery Orientation Direction setting team orientation. 

Key Performance Areas:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to Council’s mandate in respect of informal economy support, development, management and regulations in order to strategically contribute towards the municipality’s local economic development aspirations
• Create an enabling environment towards growing informal businesses, many of which are located in rural areas and townships through effective and efficient permitting and licensing of such businesses In line with the municipality’s Informal Economy Policy, Informal Trading By-laws, KZN Informal Economy Master Plan & other Council’s strategic policies, recommend and facilitate implementation of informal economy sector support interventions
• Conduct feasibility studies & other studies to identify opportunities that can be optimized and implemented to enable better regulation of the informal traders & the rest of the informal economy
• Recommend and facilitate implementation of capacity building initiatives to develop and improve capabilities of various businesses operating in the informal sector to enable them to meaningfully participate in the mainstream economy.
