Overall Purpose of this Job:
Responsible for providing electrical technical support and execution of maintenance and inspections to ensure manufacturing operational equipment and processes are reliable and safe to use.
The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:
The main duties and responsibilities of the position are highlighted but not limited to:
Ensure all Manufacturing and Packaging Equipment / Process systems are SAFE to use.
Responsible to ensure effective Maintenance and Reliability of Manufacturing and Packaging Equipment / Process Systems are executed. . Strengthen 3 main maintenance functions:
Reactive Maintenance (Line Support)
Preventive Maintenance (Planned Maintenance)
Proactive Maintenance (Reliability)
Provide specialist technical advice to the team to ensure Safety, Equipment Availability and Reliability.
Ensure EHS, GMP and Quality requirements are met in responsibility (Technical Operations: Manufacturing and Packaging Equipment).
Implement and execute Good Engineering Practices (GEP) in order to support the delivery of the Production Plan and operational efficiency requirements.
Support and drives reliability and continuous improvement to improve OEE initiatives.
Actively participates in the identification and implementation of continuous improvements initiatives. Ensure wastages are minimized and Maintenance costs contained or improved.
Supports Engineering Manufacturing and Packaging related capital projects as required
Ensures compliance with work instructions according to the relevant SOP's.
Contributes to the reduction of NCS (Non-Conformances), deviations and complaints. Participates in root cause analysis, countermeasures identification and implementation of CAPAs.
Assist with the update or creation of new SOPs and work instructions as required.
Provide equipment operational training to staff on the appropriate SOP's, WI's and any other procedures that may affect compliance and performance of equipment.
Support Site Acceptance Tests, installation, operational and performance qualification of new equipment as required.
Provide operational support in order to meet Production Plan requirements.
Review and update all planned maintenance schedules to ensure effective maintenance practices.
Ensure that the settings of equipment are correct and in line with the relevant SOP's and set-up checklists.
Maintain the quality and condition of tooling and all equipment change parts.
Provides back-up assistance to equipment operators in the event of absenteeism or lack of required skill to continue normal operations.
Shift work and standby is a requirement for this job
Assess and optimize equipment and equipment related processes, in both the solids and liquids value streams, to ensure that they run efficiently, effectively, and safely.
Identify and maintain critical spare parts of equipment. Ensure the availability of the correct spares and change parts for Manufacturing and Packaging equipment in the plant.
Ensure that maintenance schedules are relevant and accurate and updated accordingly.
Responsible in terms of OHS Act and Regulations to ensure that all Manufacturing and Packaging Equipment and Processes (new and existing) meet legal requirements and are maintained to these standards.
Lead and drive assigned Safety responsibilities to ensure the safety of people, process and systems are incompliance to local & Global J&J Requirements (IOSS / Machine guarding / WRAPS / Process Safety / LOTO / P2W).
Responsible for compliance to all J&J Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
We’d love to hear from YOU, if you have:
Required:
Qualified Electrician / Millwright (Artisan qualification) with completed apprenticeship.
Engineering Certificate / Diploma with min 5 years' experience in a manufacturing / packaging process environment.
Maintenance management experience and skills.
Leadership experience.
Continuous Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma experience will be advantageous).
Good PLC knowledge.
Good technical aptitude - be able to fault find and repair any operational equipment / process breakdown.
Must be systematic, neat, methodical and have attention to detail.
Must be customer focused.
Good people skills and ability to work in teams.
Must be available for rotational shift work and overtime as this is a requirement for this position as maintenance electrician.
Previous exposure to the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
