    Maintenance Technician

    JOB PURPOSE

    To ensure maintenance, repairs and servicing of machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructure is implemented. The maintenance engineer shall ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Diploma (Electronic Eng.);

     

    IDEAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • 4-5 years’ experience in Machine maintenance;
    • Experience in total productive maintenance beneficial;
    • Proficient with MS Office suite;
    • Experience with PLC’s.

     

    KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Analogue and digital electronics;
    • Computerized /PLC controlled manufacturing equipment;
    • Mechanical aptitude;
    • Vacuum and pneumatic systems;
    • Fault diagnostics and repair;
    • Must be ‘hands on’ with mechanical repairs when required.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILTY AREAS

    • Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods;
    • Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment breakdown and faults;
    • Diagnosing breakdown problems;
    • Performing maintenance and repairs and making sure equipment is working correctly;
    • Liaising with suppliers and service specialists;
    • Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components and consumables;
    • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment;
    • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs and machine maintenance statistics;
    • Dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs on a 24/7 basis;
    • Working with specialized equipment, such as PLC controlled optical manufacturing and coating machines;
    • Determining stock holding of spare parts taking history, cost and risk into account.
