Management Accountant - Hammarsdale at Rainbow Chicken

RAINBOW CHICKEN is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Commercial team based in KZN - Hammarsdale.This position plays a key role in the development of the Finance team’s commercial engagement with the business. The individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining a suitable sales system using various BIS tools to accurately report information, to help manage, measure, maintain and monitor performance in various key performance areas with the view of improving profitability.

• Analysis of various key performance areas within the front-end and costing systems
• Manage, analyze, develop and maintain the customer Profitability by Distributor, by chill type, by delivery mode, by sales region, by product using various BIS tools
• Manage, analyze and maintain the Front-End sales revenue and selling cost budget and forecast process.
• Manage and analyze the customer rebate information including provisions and reconciliations and variances.
• Provide analysis of information provided to Auditors and external parties.
• Provide support and apply expertise to the various ad hoc projects undertaken by the Commercial Deprartment

Minimum Requirements    

• B Com (Accounting) / (Management Accounting).  CA / CMA advantageous but not requirement. 
• 2-5 year’s in Commercial function
• SAP experience preferential
• ·Advanced Excel experience preferred – cube reports, pivot table analysis, graphs (mainly waterfalls and bar)
• Costing experience beneficial

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Sales and Distribution Cost Analysis
• Develop a detailed understanding of the data integration into MACS
• Perform analysis on all monthly sales & distribution charges to understand why different products, customers and destinations attract different charges.
• Reconcile the monthly sales & distribution charges.
• Provide practical commercial expertise and ad hoc requests.
• Liaise with Vector on ABC updates (distribution rates) in MACS.
• Prepare a quarterly overview outlining significant fluctuations in the distribution cost base and the impact on individual product profitability.
• Manage the monthly update of front-end actual trade-sales to MACS and the BI cube.
• Reconcile the interface between trade sales, MACS and ultimately, the BI cube.

Sales System Hierarchy Maintenance

• Manage and maintain the integrity of the customer and alternate hierarchies
• Effect any changes required to the hierarchies that are supported by the requisite approvals.
• Develop and enhance processes that are designed to control changes to the system hierarchy.
• Conduct periodic audits on both the customer and product hierarchies.
• Liaise with the Master Data team to improve the integrity of the customer hierarchy with a view to passing this function on to Master Data.

Rebates

• Check and sign rebate payment schedule.
• Liaise and provide assistance to the customers/Vector/Sales and Finance team on any rebate issues.
• Enable the Reconciliation of the provision and payments process
• Design and review reconciliation file annually.
• Update provisions, payments & deductions table
• Balance to general ledger – signed recon to Finance.
• Input and calculate rebate provisions for GL input
• Maintain and update Manual Adhoc rebate payments and Field Marketing apportionments to relevant customers
• Perform provision assessments at interim and Year End for adhoc / manual adjustments
• Marketing and overheads expenses
• Full understanding of allocation of marketing and overheads across product range.
• Continuous review and audit the allocation base to make sure the costs are allocated correctly.

Reporting

• Provide SAPA (South African Poultry Association) with sales information.
• Assist with the compilation of Anti-dumping and tariff application information when required.
• Preparation of journal entries
• General ledger account review and analysis
• Review and analysis of cost centres on a monthly basis, providing such reports to cost centre owners.
• In depth review and investigation of costs by nature of expense and trends monthly.
• Preparation and management of month end reporting timetable
• Consolidation of various regional cost trackers
• Preparation and distribution of various month end reports.
• Preparation of month end graphs and tables.
• Review of weekly travel report cost centre allocations and monthly reporting of travel costs.
• Create workflows for purchase orders on an ad-hoc basis.
• Creation and maintenance of cost centres on SAP
• Run assessments on SAP.
• Preparation and management of Target and Reforecasting timetable
• Assist commercial manager with various ad-hoc tasks.
• Liaise with various business stakeholders.
• Assist with external audit queries.
• Prepare presentations in Powerpoint

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Liaise with Vector to coordinate submission of accurate sales volumes and related selling costs as part of the budget and forecasting process.
• Validate data, update and maintain key forecasting drivers in the MACS system.
• Liaise with internal clients and coordinate upload / reconciliation of sales budgets and forecasts including selling costs into MACS and the GL.

System Integration and Data Management

• Liaise directly with the IT development team to propose enhancements to the BI cube including new report development and maintenance of the integrity of the system.
• Maintain a record of the Monthly / Quarterly sign-off of the system reconciliation with related clients.
• Act as an enabler in developing and maintaining a suite of reports in conjunction with the BI Team

Balance I/S to MACS I/S

• Reconcile MACS I/S with statutory I/S and allocate material variance across SKU’s.
• Reconcile material variance

NPD

• Liaise with R&D on new product developments.
• Manage all active workflows in order to achieve targeted 3-day turnaround for new product costings
• Check & approve costings submitted from Regional Management Accountants.
