    Manager Energy Management & Revenue Protection

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • A relevant BTech degree in Electrical Engineering and registration as Pr Tech Eng. 
    • A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Factories/Electrical or Pr Cert Eng 
    • Computer literacy in MS Office, CAD-, GIS – Software 
    • 8 years or more relevant experience post registration 
    • Valid Code B Driver's Licence

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

    • Quality of Service - In order to provide a quality service to the customers whilst complying to NERSA's licensing conditions. 
    • Energy Management - Ensure George continues to introduce renewables into its energy mix in order to reduce it carbon footprint, purchase power cheaper and be less susceptible to loadshedding, whilst maintaining the reliability of the electrical network. 
    • Meter Management - Ensure that our metering is always compliant meting the industry standards in order to collect the correct revenue and correct payment for energy from Eskom/IPPs. 
    • Revenue Protection - Ensure a suitable service in terms of revenue collected and network reliability for supply of electricity. 
    • Illegal Wiring and Infrastructure Theft/Vandalism – To reduce the costs associated with the reinstatement of infrastructure and ensure the stability of the electrical network. 
    • Application for Services - To inform our communities of services we provide, equip them with information and simplify and expedite requests for services. 
    • Energy Efficiency - To reduce energy usage in light of the challenges faced by the national supplier and in the process reduce the carbon footprint and energy bill for the municipality. 
    • Cost of Supply and Tariff Development - Ensure that the cost of rendering the electricity business is recovered through appropriately developed and approved tariffs for the sustainability of the municipality. 
    • Occupational Health and Safety - Ensure the safety of staff and the public. 
    • Communication - Inform communities of the need to reduce energy consumption and awareness of infrastructure theft and vandalism. 
    • Budget and Financial Management - Apply extensive management control over allocated funds by optimising expenditure incurred with projects and to ensure financial control within the Division and to comply with the requirements of the Municipal Financial Management Act. 
    • Project Management - Ensure that all projects are managed according to sound project management principles and techniques. 
    • Contract Management - Ensure contractual terms and conditions entered into and agreed to are complied with and specific responsibilities discharged without risk to Council. 
    • Contract Preparation Management - Ensure that project planning is performed in order to assist completion within specified times and to the satisfaction of the Directorate. 
    • Functional Management Activities - Ensure a quality, safe and sustainable supply of electricity to all consumers within the licensed electricity supply area of George Municipality and within the framework of Council Policy and the Occupational Health & Safety Act. 
    • Legal/Statutory Management - Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, legislation and best practices, and the Directorate's Quality Management 
    • Financial Control - Ensure accurate estimates are prepared in relation to requirements enabling the section to contribute positively towards meeting objectives and sustaining the quality and standards of service delivery. 
    • Administrative Duties - Ensure accurate operational information is maintained and made available on request and specific administrative actions and reporting are complied with. 
    • Productivity/Performance and Personnel Management - Ensure a climate conducive to promoting and sustaining motivation levels, productivity, performance and improving the quality of work-life is cultivated and maintained, enabling the department to meet its service delivery objectives.
