POSITION SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of this role is to build and lead a team of senior professionals (engineers and other specialists) to develop and deliver strategic projects which realise the value identified and prioritised by the business

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH in Geoscience/ Mining Engineering / Metallurgy/ Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in major project development and execution of which at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity;
• Experience in operating facilities and mines or other major industrial undertakings is essential;
• Experience in the development and delivery of discipline engineering and project deliverables is essential;
• Experience in working with diverse stakeholder groups is essential;
• 15 years of experience in the mining/mineral processing industry particularly in the areas of strategic planning, development and major projects is advantageous;
• Senior line management experience in operations, maintenance and/or engineering is advantageous.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Build and lead a team of senior professionals (engineers and other specialists) to develop and deliver strategic projects which realise the value identified and prioritised by the business;
• Contribute to and help shape the business planning process by providing strategic input on investment opportunities with timely, accurate and pertinent recommendations
• Ensure compliance with reporting and governance requirements
• Cost, schedule and quality of works undertaken by the sub-function
• Deliver Major Projects including approval processes to ensure adherence to the South32 investment process and other governance requirements.
• Develop and analyse the metrics for the Major Projects portfolio and the future pipeline of projects progressing through the Directional Studies to allow planning for effective allocation of resources across the portfolio.
• Develop and maintain a resource schedule for major projects personnel, both employee and contractor.
• Coordination/consolidation of Major Project annual budget baselines and capital forecasts ;
• Management of the execution phase engineering process and engineering deliverables in accordance with South32 standards.
