Manager: Quality Assurance - REF: MANQUASS – JW383EX/2023 at Johannesburg Water

PURPOSE

• To manage and implement the ISO17025 Quality Management System, applicable for both testing and online laboratories of Johannesburg Water. Responsible for developing and implementing quality policies, programs, and other initiatives. Oversees development of new tools, methods and systems to ensure products and services meet ISO17025 quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Integrate and develop the Quality Framework, Quality Strategy and Quality Management System to meet strategic needs.
• Ensure the facilitation of staff training, consistent with company’s workplace skills plan.
• Ensure development and review of requests tenders and contracts.
• Ensure full detail of the technical records for each laboratory. Ensure establishment, documentation, implementation and maintenance of the quality management system.
• Ensure continued accreditation of all laboratories. Encourage and assist suitable staff to participate in Research and Development projects. Ensure the daily capturing of laboratory authorized data.
• Ensure reporting to JW management, daily. Encourage and assist suitable staff to participate in research and development projects. Alert Management to any Quality Management System matters, which might impact negatively on customer wellbeing or economic interest.
• Management of leave, such as annual and sick, ensuring that adequate staff are on leave.
• Develop and Manage budget for the section.
• Manage and track expenditure. Implementing Occupational Health and Safety act. Ensure the laboratory records are kept for audits queries.

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor of Science/BTech/Advanced Diploma in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Microbiology/Water care/Biotechnology (NQF 7) plus Btech/Advanced Diploma in Quality Management or Total Quality Management Systems (NQF 7). Professional Registration as a Scientist/Technologist.
• 7 years in the laboratory environment including exposure to ISO17025. 3 years managerial experience.
• Valid driver’s Licence-Code B.
