    Managing Executive: Wholesale and MVNO

    Purpose of the Job: 

    • Wholesale Business is an integral revenue generating business unit that operates as a stand-alone
    • division. Its key mandate is to establish and manage partnerships with entities such as
    • Banks, retailers and others that would like to offer mobile services as an MVNO
    • Internet Service Provider and telecommunication companies that want to become Cell C Business Service Partner
    • International carrier that wants to carry Cell C’s international traffic
    • International mobile operators, that would like to offer international roaming services
    • The purpose of the job is to lead the Wholesale Business Division consisting of the Product, New Business Development, Strategy & Analytics, Pricing, Customer Service and IT functions. This is done by providing the overall Wholesale Business Strategy and operational direction for the Division, in support of Cell C’s Corporate, Strategic and Business Objectives through developing directing and coordinating operational activities.

    Key Performance Objectives & Tasks

    • Strategic Planning
    • Define, develop and integrate the strategic plan for the Wholesale Business Division on a short, medium and long-term basis.
    • Lead the translation of Wholesale Business Strategy and Corporate and Strategic Business Plans into a roadmap which enables differentiation, competitiveness, effectiveness and efficiency in order to maximize revenue.
    • Consult with Executive Heads and Executives on the implication of any planned organizational changes in order to achieve operational effectiveness and enhance divisional synergy.
    • Deploy and improve the Wholesale Business Office in Support of Cell C’s Corporate Strategy.
    • Business Management
    • Direct the activities of the Wholesale Business Office, to plan procedures, establish accountabilities and co-ordinate functions among departments.
    • Define critical key business indicators in respect of overall Divisional improvements.
    • Determine Business Objectives and requirements, initiate and oversee programs and projects as well as to develop standards and guidelines for diverse Wholesale Business Division’s activities.
    • Collate and analyze disjointed information accumulated from various sources in order to make well informed cost saving decisions.
    • Ensure statutory and corporate governance compliance.
    • Ensure all Departments’ policies and procedures are aligned with best proactive methodology and constantly updated.
    • Protect and enhance a favourable reputation of the Cell C brand amongst all stakeholders and key opinion leaders within the market.
    • Advocate favourable media coverage as measured by independent surveys or audits.
    • Ensure revenue and EBITDA is in line with the business expectations.
    • Collate information and prepare and present high level presentations on commercial activates to various stakeholders.
    • Direct the development of customer databases and define customer requirements. Ensure the effective measurement of customer preferences and service expectations.
    • Function Leadership of Divisions
    • Accountable for overseeing and driving all of Cell C’s Wholesale Sales Strategic intent conversion to maximizing opportunities for profitable growth.
    • Oversee the Wholesale Value Chain through alignment to the Wholesale Business Strategy in order to create and sustain a competitive advantage.
    • Direct the development of growth through all the partner channels to ensure maximum market penetration.
    • Lead the management of Cell C’s wholesale tariffs, development of new pricing structures, measuring and performance management of wholesale partner channels on a quantitative as well as a qualitative level.
    • Direct the generation of revenue within the Wholesale Business Department through the achievement of set sales targets.
    • Financial Management
    • Manage through planning, setting, monitoring and controlling the yearly OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the Wholesale Business Division.
    • Determine the Wholesale Business Division’s OPEX and CAPEX budget deployment to departments.
    • Direct and authorize Wholesale Business Division budget activities to fund operations maximize outputs and increase efficiency, which are beyond the authority of the Executive Heads, Executives and Senior Managers.
    • Guide Cell C in Wholesale Business Division funding priorities.
    • Review and approve overall cost expenditure as per delegation of authority.
    • Ensure and enforce budget cost saving practices.
    • Staff Leadership
    • Recruit departmental leaders; assign and direct work, oversee their development, identify training needs and maintain staff competence.
    • Oversee evaluate and guide the department’s Employee Performance Management programme.
    • Provide an advisory, support and mentorship function.
    • Initiate the appropriate Labour Relation action required within section.
    • Uphold HR policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Post Graduate Degree in Business studies (B Com / B Business Science BSc / Actuarial Studies) or an MBA
    • Relevant Sales / Marketing qualification

    Experience

    • Minimum 12 years related experience in customer centric industry – ideally in GSM / FMCG / Telco.
    • Experience in communication and managing interfaces into different divisions and departments within the entire company at every level.
    • Experience in corporate strategy execution and translation into divisional objectives and goals.
    • Experience in MVNO and Wholesale Business activities and understanding of business cases and financial modelling.
    • Experience in a telecommunications retail markets.
    • Sound, successful track record of developing and enhancing revenue.
    • Perform any other related duties as requested by the CGO

    • Focus on implementing new ways to improve revenue generation and growth for the business
    • Optimise and prioritise commercial opportunities that will strengthen and enhance the business
    • Anticipate evolving commercial trends and risks and take action to re-engineer the business strategies accordingly
