    Marketing Consultant - Discovery Invest Marketing

    Key Purpose

    The Marketing Consultant partners with business and the Senior Marketing manager to formulate the marketing and brand strategy. The incumbent implements of the marketing plan with the objective of influencing targeted consumers to choose Discovery’s products and services and to achieve specific measurable business and marketing objectives.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Provide content in support of the development of the marketing strategy for the Business Unit.
    • Understand Divisional/Business Unit objectives to ensure relevant implementation of plans.
    • Provide input on campaigns and activities for relevant marketing reports.
    • Coordinate tasks, resources and internal and external stakeholders to ensure the relevant, timeous implementation of the initiatives and campaigns per the signed off marketing plan.
    • Ensure relevant and impactful marketing and communications tactics and implementation.
    • Identify and engage with all relevant stakeholders across the Business Unit to ensure robust implementation of marketing initiatives.
    • Brief, get approval and manage timelines for any marketing material related to projects
    • Take accountability and responsibility for projects
    • Interact with operational business areas:
    1. Get approval
    2. Meet business needs
    3. Manage expectations of all stakeholders
    4. Maintain and build solid relationships
    • Understand financial principles including costs as it impacts the ability to formulate and execute relevant marketing plans/interventions/campaigns.
    • Ensure quality of outputs
    • Reflect on all projects and identify opportunities for continual improvement
    • Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.

    Competencies

    • Proven experience developing marketing plans and campaigns
    • Time and project management
    • Communicate very well in English both in writing and verbally
    • Convert technical information to audience appropriate communication
    • Critically evaluate communication elements

    • Question processes, strategy and outputs
    • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills

    Education and Experience

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3-year undergraduate degree or diploma
    • Preferable: Communication or Marketing focussed
    • Minimum of 3 years-experience in Marketing, PR or Communication
    • Prior marketing experience in the investment industry is preferred

    Knowledge

    • Discovery’s products and business processes
    • Various media channels, and specifically digital
    • Agency process and relationships
    • Print and production processes (including time lines and costings)
    • Critical elements of successful communication
    • Knowledge of how their role and the Discovery Invest brand fits into the bigger Discovery picture and single customer experience.
