Master Data Management – Data Steward at The Coca-Cola Company

This role will strategically centralise specific data objects delivering data lifecycle management, governance, stewardship and ownership principles and best practice and services across the group. They will work closely with the Shared Services team, specifically:

1. Guardian for the end-to-end process and maintenance of MDM (Master Data Management)
2. Responsible for the execution of the strategy and business processes required to create, maintain, and obsolete data in terms of the objects lifecycle criteria.
3. The position is ultimately responsible for data cleansing, data definitions, data standards, process documentation, as well as serving in an expert role to functional teams providing best practices, improved processes and architecture, data interpretation and training.
4. Analysing data for quality as well as completeness
5. Initiating in-depth analysis of data quality issues and present trends independently to management
6. Identify opportunities to mitigate risk and structurally address root causes of problems Evaluate the data model for areas of risk and implement cross-team solutions
7. Evaluate existing process, tools, and reports for areas of improvement
8. Resolving data integrity issues across stakeholders
9. This role is typically the ‘go to’ person within a specific domain for all the queries/issues related to data
10. Provide strong foundations on which to build the continuous development, improvement, efficiency and success including an environment that fosters innovation and delivery.
11. Takes business processes process ownership within the master data domain ensuring effective migration of activities that belong in the Center of Scale and managing the relationship with the CoS to provide service excellence to the business
12. Drives and supports business process standardisation and optimisation, drives innovations as well as coaches and supports SMEs in optimisation initiatives executed. Standardise the way of working within the master data domain.
13. Manages and facilitates that process changes are implemented in a seamless manner in markets in accordance with the standard operating model and that issues are escalated and resolved at the right time.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

1. Develop and maintain frameworks, documentation, communication and implementation of policies, standards and procedures in platforms for the definition, creation, storage and usage of master data elements
2. Define data rules and rulesets for specific data area, including for data validation
3. Establish project processes, standards guidelines, and structures for master data, metadata and configuration data elements as well as data cleansing, data migration and upload activities
4. Provide input and implement the data roadmap driving towards data standardisation
5. Implement data governance framework to exercise authority control and shared decision making over the management of data assets
6. Research and implement data enhancements (population of additional data elements) required for reporting & analysis, digital, or other activities
7. Identify opportunities for standardization of data elements and related definitions. Collaborate with COS to apply necessary changes
8. Develop an intimate familiarity with CCBA data and support functional teams on best practices for product classification, customer segmentation, and other master data methodologies
9. Specify and maintain data quality requirements for specific data area
10. Provide input into master data management and guide master data operations and master data validation teams in data capturing, cleansing and validation activities
11. Audit governance and control by means of risk framework (such as RACM)
12. Support Project Horizon activities from a governance and strategy perspective – master data management and data migration
13. Investigate questions or issues related to master data elements and provide resolution in a timely fashion
14. Leverage dashboards/metric reports and conduct data analysis to monitor and audit data quality and completeness
15. Oversee and control implementation of relevant data rulesets and data validation rulesets and rollout corrective measures to relevant data capture teams, where required.
16. Investigate and follow-up on escalated data issues, providing problem solving support and process guidance
17. Develop an understanding of information flow and system architecture and how it relates to underlying data structures
18. Analyse and evaluate data gathered from multiple sources and address conflicts or business issues, including integration of new systems
19. Build and maintain a data dictionary that catalogues data elements and usage across systems, functions, and processes
20. Apply Data Quality techniques to data to provide assurance that it is fit for consumption and meets the needs of consumers
21. Driving and supporting business process standardisation and optimisation, drive innovation and coach and support SMEs in optimisation initiatives executed
22. Managing execution of service standards in accordance with defined service level agreements, within the framework of the chargeback mechanism defined to ensure budgets and financial targets are met
23. Ensuring standardised ways of working, master data management and control and Business Intelligence (BI) within their corresponding function(s) in the markets
24. Managing and facilitating process changes are implementation in a seamless manner in markets in accordance with the standard operating model and that issues are escalated and resolved at the right time
25. Leading business process service delivery within their area of expertise, ensuring effective migration of activities that belong in the Centre of Scale and managing the relationship with the CoS to provide service excellence to the business
26. Act as a key liaison between Centre of Scale and the Business for respective business processes and process optimisation as well as service excellence and KPI delivery
27. Accountable for corresponding process KPI’s and for identifying gaps to best practices and facilitating innovative solutions
28. Collaborating with local functional business on continuous improvement of process and its system support, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency
29. Collaborating with group leadership to facilitate and drive an on-going dialogue on improving processes from an end-to-end point of view
30. Participating in local SSC incident management and Change Request management
31. Leadership taken in integrating cross functional teams across CCBA functions with the desire to have all working towards common goals as one team in terms of MDM
32. Develop and maintain frameworks, documentation, communication and implementation of policies, standards and procedures in platforms for the definition, creation, storage and usage of master data elements

Skills, Experience & Education    

Qualifications:

1. A degree in Computer Science / Information Systems
2. Specialised knowledge:
3. Appropriate qualification in Master Data Management (preferably endorsed by DAMA)
4. ECCMA (Electronic Commerce Code Management Association)
5. ISO 8000, the Global Standard for Data Quality and Enterprise Master Data standards
6. Quality management system (e.g. ISO9000) advantageous

Experience                        

1. 10+ years of relevant business experience in the managing (and operationalizing) master data, data quality management rules, data standards, and alerts configuration, exception resolution, master data management principles including implementation, data migration activities etc.
2. Experience as master data work stream lead, change manager, stakeholder relationship manager and senior manager in the operations.
3. Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies
4. Strong track record of delivering results over time.
5. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, process expertise, leadership techniques, production methods, coordination of people and resources.
6. Deep operational and management knowledge in data management, policy and process development, design, quality execution, governance and audit throughout the data lifecycle
7. Deep technical & strong knowledge of MDM policies, processes and methodologies
8. Deep technical & strong knowledge of ERP and applications related to the function
9. Advanced data analysis skills using Excel, SQL and reporting tools to import, analyse and report on data
10. Familiarity with Enterprise Metadata Management (Business and IT)
11. Familiarity with process modelling, semantic modelling and data modelling
12. Sound knowledge of data management lifecycle and data governance principles
13. Sound knowledge of data architecture
14. Sound knowledge of metadata, master data, data integration principles and data quality management
