Job Description    

• RCL FOODS is searching for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Foods division specific to the Chicken business unit. This role is based at our Worcester, Chicken - Processing plant in the Western Cape.

The purpose of the role is to provide preventative maintenance and repairs to all mechanical equipment which should effectively reduce breakdown times so that production efficiency is achieved.
Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 or NTC 3 (relevant trade)
• Trade test as a Fitter or Fitter and Turner;
• 5 years relevant expérience (post qualification) ;
• Ability to work independently and under pressure;
• Co-ordinate projects;
• Prepared to work shifts, standby, call outs and overtime when required;
• Ability to do machining will be an advantage;
• Knowledge of poultry processing equipment would be an advantage;
• Physically fit and able to work in cold conditions, typically below -40degres;
• Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans;

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Service, repairs and maintenance of all mechanical equipment;
• Breakdowns on mechanical equipment;
• Standby duties;
• Safety inspection and reports;
• Research and development – upgrade equipment for improved performance at reduction of maintenance cost;
• Attend to all scheduled maintenance
• Work on Conveyor systems
• Repairs or maintenance on Centrifugal Pumps
