Mechanical Fitter at Phakisa Group

Purpose of the Role

• The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for carrying out general mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations to ensure optimal functioning of equipment and machinery. The role requires a hands-on individual with strong fault-finding skills and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery
• Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on breakdowns
• Install, assemble, and align mechanical components and systems
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed according to safety standards and procedures
• Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Assist with shutdown maintenance and urgent repair work
• Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a maintenance environment
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or plant maintenance
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
