Mineral Resources Practitioner Planner (North West) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Apply appropriate mine planning software to develop short term mine designs and associated schedules, and from these, produce a detailed set of mine plans to meet the mining objectives and goals for the mine.

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigating solutions, and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us

CUSTOMERS 

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction in line with departmental outputs
• Ensure compliance to MHSA is adhered to and maintained

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

Mine Planning:

• Administration of planning calendar, protocols, and meetings for respective area of responsibility
• Development and construction of monthly mine plans consistent with the achievement of the mine production and budget targets
• Collect integrated geological and technical data necessary to conduct effective monthly mine designs and schedules for the mine
• Update monthly mine designs and schedules in AutoCAD and Deswik
• Update designs and schedules on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis in Deswik
• Mine plans to be aligned with the mine’s drive towards zero harm, technical services and Corporate Strategy as well as legal requirements
• Application and utilisation of standard mine planning techniques and practices (Conventional, Mechanised and Open Pit)
• Conduct monthly pre-planning and production planning
• Monitor adherence to mine plans and designs
• Mine plans to be relevant, consistent, and accurate in respect of the ore body characteristics, mining method and operational requirements
• Mine plans and designs to be reviewed regularly to optimise and maximise the mining throughputs
• Apply activity scheduling and compile production profiles in Deswik
• Update mine schedules in line with changes in production targets
• Proactively identify production target compromising conditions, detailing the impact of those as input into managerial decision-making and problem solving
• Prepare plans required for planning review and presentations
• Planning non-compliances or irregularities to be escalated for action
• Develop L.O.M Plans with Planning Specialist

Daily Production Management System:

• Conduct the monthly workplace setup in Synchromine
• Responsible for ensuring the logging of daily bookings by Production Teams
• Responsible for Synchromine report generation as needed
• Daily production meeting attendance as required

Requirements

Minimum qualifications: 

• Grade 12/N3
• Higher Certificate (NQF 5) or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Mining Engineering or Survey / Mineral Resources Management or
• Chamber of Mines Advanced Survey and Advanced Valuation Certificates
• 5 Year’s relevant experience, preferably 2 years supervisory experience
