Mineral Resources Practitioner Survey (North West) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• To execute safe and cost-effective survey work underground and on surface to fix positions of mined out workings and surface structures. To ensure compliance with regulatory (MHSA) and asset management requirements.

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us

• Supervise the Team:
• Ensure an enabling climate/culture
• Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover
• Labour complement in line with budget
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels

CUSTOMERS 

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction through procedural competencies to measure and quantify mineral asset inventory and mineral reserve depletion.

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

• Survey of opencast mines / tailings and waste dumps and fixing positions of objects / structures on surface
• Opencast and/or underground offsetting and month end measuring
• Plot linear measurements on a plan and calculate volumes
• Survey and measuring of underground workings
• Stake out and final survey of boreholes
• Compilation of Survey and Holing notes
• Assist the survey department to comply to the relevant Act’s

• Microsoft Office programs
• Samancor Chrome Systems (IMS, EBMS, Chromedoc, Coupa, MES)
• Cad programmes and survey software experience (e.g.AutoCAD, Modelmaker, Deswik, Winminop, Pix4D)

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Grade 12/N3
• Higher Certificate (NQF 5) or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Mineral Survey OR Chamber of Mines Advance Survey Certificate
• Driver’s License
• Experience in working with electronic survey, terrestrial and UAV instruments
• 5 year’s relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ supervisory experience

• Advanced Valuation Certificate
