    MSc Student-Biotechnology/Microbiology (Two (2) Years Fixed Term Contract) (Roodeplaat)

    Description

    • Identify and screen rhizobia and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria from underutilized legumes.
    • Screen for beneficial plant-soil microbe interaction traits.
    • Conduct glasshouse and/or field screening trials involving rhizobium/rhizobacterial inoculation.
    • Investigate soil characteristics in relation to legume rhizobium interactions.
    • Study the molecular characterization and identification of selected elite strains.
    • Publish research outputs on internationally recognized peer reviewed journals

    Requirements

    • BSc/BTech in Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biological Sciences.
    • Basic knowledge of soil microorganisms in particular soil bacteria.
    • Experience in glasshouse and/or field experiment is an added advantage.
