    nGAP Lecturer

    The University is looking for aspiring academics in the following academic disciplines:

    Minimum requirements:

    • A Master’s Degree in Clinical Technology or equivalent.
    • Registration with HPCSA as a graduate in Neurophysiology or Reproductive Biology OR
    • Cardiovascular for at least 3 years
    • Driver’s licence.
    • An aggregate of 70% in the master's academic record.
    • Must be South African and below the age of 40.

    Additional recommendations:

    • Registration with the HPCSA as an independent practitioner in Clinical Technology
    • Good organisational and administrative skills.
    • Experience in E-learning
    • Proficiency in research, writing and communications
    • A motivated self-starter, responsible and accountable individual and a team worker.
    • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email
    • nGAP Lecturers Post: Clinical Technology, Permanent
    • Salary: Negotiable up to R514 773,90

    Summary of duties:

    • Competent preparation and delivery of learning material related to Clinical Technology students
    • at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
    • Supervise, train and assess undergraduate students in Clinical Technology
    • Undertake assessment and administration duties related to teaching and learning.
    • Facilitate learning effectively through traditional and online platforms
    • Undertake research and publications, and become involved in community engagement
    • Working collegially with team members towards attaining the goals of the department, faculty and institution.
    • Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department

    In accepting an nGAP appointment, the incumbent will have to:

    • Commit to full participation in the 8-year New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP)
    • Commit to registering for Doctoral studies (as applicable) within 3 months of taking up the
    • nGAP. Please note that nGAP appointees who already hold a doctorate will be required to undertake
    • higher teaching/research
    • Commit to work closely with the supervisor and mentor assigned to him/her, and to adhere to the
    • study plan and milestones developed with the supervisor and
    • Commit to participate in the SSAUF Development Programme, which may involve participation in at
    • least one short course/module per year focused on research or teaching
    • Agree that s/he cannot accept any other funding from state sources that duplicates the purpose
    • for which funding has already been allocated through the nGAP.
    • Agree that s/he cannot accept any other funding for projects that conflict with obligations that
    • arise from participating in the nGAP.
    • Agree to inform the University and the Department of Higher Education and Training of any other
    • funding that s/he has been offered before accepting such funding.
    • Agree that should s/he leave the nGAP position before completing the 8-year programme, s/he will
    • be obliged to reimburse the nGAP fund by repaying the University the following costs incurred up to
    • the point of leaving.
    • Registration and tuition fees for postgraduate studies, where applicable.
    • Costs associated with the assignment of a mentor to support.
    • Costs incurred for his/her participation in the SSAU F-Development
    • Costs of infrastructure and equipment provided to support his/her work in the
    • Any conference/ international mobility costs paid by the nGAP.
    • I0% of salary costs paid by the nGAP up to the point of leaving.
