Occupational Health Nurse

Afrocentric Fastpulse is looking to hire a Wellness Co-Ordinator in the Northern Cape, reporting to the Occupational Health Nurse. The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site service delivery of wellness services to meet the expectations of the client and agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). 

The incumbents to the role will be responsible for the following:

• Oversee and provide Primary Health Care and wellness services according to an agreed plan and SLA.
• Implement and facilitate the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Health (DOH) for the area.
• Implement and provide wellness services which includes testing / screening, referral and follow up.
• Conduct chronic disease monitoring (monthly) and maintenance of chronic disease registers.
• Facilitate treatment of chronic disease illnesses.
• Assist with related return to work and fitness assessments.
• Manage referrals, feedback and reporting by liaison with community, local and other service providers.
• Conduct and provide health promotion to the clients’ employees and preventative strategies.
• Conduct and facilitates the wellness day.
• Comply with all administration requirements related to the service which includes both Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) and Department of Health (DOH) reporting. This includes both written and statistical reporting, clinic registers and related reports in support of the Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.
• Stand-in for the OHNP when the OHNP is on leave or absent due to unforeseen circumstances. Assist with occupational health services when necessary.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Nurse with Nursing Diploma / Degree with additional qualification in Primary Health and Occupational Health Nursing (BTech Degree or Diploma)
• Certificates in Dispensing, Audiometry, Vision and Spirometry

Requirements

• Own transport and drivers licence.
• Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC) and Department of Health (DOH)
• Membership with South African Society Occupational Health Nursing (SASOHN) / or Own Indemnity insurance.
• At least 2 years’ experience and knowledge of providing services in the mining industry.
• Experience in dealings with and requirements of the DMR such as Codes of practice, audit and reporting requirements related to wellness, HIV and TB.
