    Officer Health And Safety

    Job Description    

    • The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for supporting the Risk Manager in promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy, and legally compliant work environment. The role ensures effective implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and systems by monitoring compliance, conducting training, coordinating medicals and safety programs, investigating incidents, and engaging employees to build a strong safety culture across the site.
    • Compliance & Monitoring: Assist in implementing HSE standards, procedures, and ISO 45001/14001 systems; conduct inspections, audits, and ensure contractor compliance.
    • Training & Awareness: Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, refresher training, and support employee engagement on HSE requirements.
    • Incident & Hazard Management: Report hazards, investigate incidents and near misses, maintain records, and follow up on corrective actions.
    • Health Monitoring: Coordinate entry, annual, and exit medicals, and ensure medical compliance reporting.
    • Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency planning, drills, and readiness of firefighting and first aid equipment.
    • Asset & Site Protection: Assist with theft/loss prevention, reporting, and investigations.
    • Continuous Improvement: Participate in audits, update SOPs, provide feedback, and recognise safe behaviours on site.

    Qualification Requirements    

    • SAMTRAC or NEBOSH IGC – Essential.
    • National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification – Essential.
    • HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) training certificate – Desirable.
    • Experience in managing contractor compliance – Desirable.

    Experience Requirements    

    • 3–5 years’ experience as a Health and Safety Officer within the FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial sector.

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Sound knowledge of HSE legislation and Acts applicable to the FMCG sector.
    • Strong skills in incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis.
    • Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills to engage and train employees at all levels.
    • Attention to detail, accuracy in reporting, and strong organisational skills.
    • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and escalate issues when necessary.

    Working Conditions    

    • Required to work a 6-day week, which may include Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays, and overtime as per operational requirements.
    • Physically fit and able to conduct site inspections and emergency drills
