    OMCC Principal Consultant (Employee Benefits)

    Job Description

    Old Mutual Corporate Consultants (OMCC) is a specialist institutional consulting division within Fairbairn Consult, a member of the Old Mutual Group, that focuses on providing retirement funds, medical schemes, employers and other institutions with sound objective advice, guidance, technical input, analysis, tools, education, and information all aimed at assisting decision-makers understand their objectives and make informed decisions.

    You will be responsible for setting the strategic consulting direction and client ownership strategy in the Employee Benefits Consulting business for OMCC consultants and its clients in the Benefits Consulting portfolio, which feeds into the broader OMCC Consulting strategy. This role falls in our senior management category.

    • Sets the strategic consulting direction and client ownership strategy in the Employee Benefits Consulting business for OMCC consultants and clients in the portfolio with the support from the Head of Consulting Strategy & Best Practice, which feeds into the broader OMCC consulting strategy.
    • Manages the implementation of the strategy, monitors the results, and adjusts the strategy as required.
    • Become a Key Individual within the required Employee Benefit Categories
    • Will become a member of the OMCC EXCO team and must execute associated responsibilities.
    • Full accountability for the provision, by OMCC consultants or self, of general employee benefits, secretarial, communication, and group assurance services to existing / new clients.
    • Develop, lead and manage OMCC EB Consulting team/s
    • Take the lead on all matters regarding the management of employees, including adherence to Group policies and procedures. Actively forms part of developing and enhancing the advice philosophy for OMCC to stay abreast of market changes.
    • Ensures that systems and processes are aligned with legislative requirements and identification of opportunities for new business
    • Manages the consulting teams’ expense and income budgets.
    • Sources and implements continuous improvement in service delivery.
    • Resolves top-level service delivery problems where OMCC Consultants need assistance and support.
    • Intervenes in and resolves conflict situations.
    • Ensures consistency in communication & EB advice to clients.
    • Ensures strong relationships with trustees/management committees and clients to reduce business risk, ensure retention and identify opportunities for new business.
    • Manages and delivers consulting and advisory services according to contracted service levels
    • Provide Management oversight of FAIS compliance within the consulting team
    • Responsible for retention and growth of business against set targets
    • Works together with sales teams in the new business process.
    • Works together with the Head of Consulting Strategy and the Employee Benefits Principal Consultants to co-create and roll our standard operating procedures & best practice frameworks.

    Job Requirements

    • Post Graduate Qualification
    • CFP or other relevant professional body accreditation
    • 15+ years in Employee Benefits Consulting for Retirement Funds
    • 7 +Years at the senior management level
    • Experience in leading teams is essential
    • Must be FAIS accredited and be willing to become a KI
    • Excellent presentation, communication & written skills
    • Stakeholder management & relationship building at various levels
