What is the primary purpose of your job?
- To manage the units' packing efficiencies, people productivity, and overall capacity of the packing facility to ensure optimum performance of packing equipment, service levels and working capital. Packing Manager to have key exposure to Maintenance Systems, OEE, Breakdowns and pro-active maintenance, Capex motivations, Budget Control, Procurement of packaging and consumables and MRP.

What are the success measures of your job?
- Achieve Overall Equipment Efficiencies of > 85%;
- Effective maintenance plan in place;
- Spares availability for machines and equipment to operate at design capacity and targeted efficiencies;
- Successful motivation and implementation of projects within budget.
What are your main tasks that you do to achieve your outputs?
- Co-ordinate machine availability and effective use of resources including Labour and ensure sufficient packaging materials are available;
- Proactive approach to Repairs and Maintenance programmes (PRAGMA);
- Budgeting, motivation and implementation of Capital Expenditure projects;
- Budget, motivate and implement Major Repairs and Maintenance projects;
- Assist in compilation of post installation review;
- Control departmental critical spares;
- Develop, budget and implement departmental 5 year facilities plan
What are the most complex decisions that you take?
- Identify potential departmental improvements and prioritise the same;
- Decide on how best to implement;
- Evaluate equipment and service suppliers and decide on best provider to be utilised based on business requirements;
- Application of in depth knowledge of packing, sealing, labelling and palletising equipment and processes to compare Major Repairs & Maintenance versus CAPEX replacement;
- Determine and maintain critical spares list.
Inventory Management

- Packing material is controlled within allowable variances;
- Packing material is planned according annual forecast;
- Minimal packing material write-offs;
- Finished product stock variance within agreed tolerance
What are your main tasks that you do to achieve your outputs?
- Supervise weekly stock counts and investigate variances and take corrective measures to prevent re-occurrence;
- Ensure quality compliance of in-coming packing material;
- Ensure minimum stock levels are maintained;
- Daily balancing of stock transfers with distribution;
- Daily balancing of finished product stock reconciliation;
- Ensuring variance between BOM and actual<=1%

- Decides on order quantity based on forecast, supplier availability and lead time
Financial Supervision
What are the success measures of your job?
- Stock holding as per minimum ordering levels;
- Expense control within or below approved budget
What are your main tasks that you do to achieve your outputs?
- Overtime reduction to improve on budget availability;
- Control seasonal contract labour to improve on budget availability;
- BOM review quarterly;
- Prepare and manage annual production budget from zero base;
- Implement and manage all expenditure on a daily basis;
- Identify reputable suppliers for the supply of spares and services;
- Application of stores control and procurement SoP’s as per company requirements;
- Operational decision making as necessary to alter programs when time or budget limitations are reached;
- Maximise on production efficiencies;
- Minimise product rejects;
- Identify, implement and report on Continuous Improvement projects and achieve savings

Qualifications & Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience on packing or bottling line.
- Matric with exemption
- N4 mechanical and Electrical
