    PGCE PC/WIL Coordinator (Cape Town Campus)

    Responsibilities:
    Duties include but are not limited to:
    Campus specific coordination of the PGCE programme across all relevant campuses

    • Get to know specific coordination of the PGCE programme across all relevant campuses
    • know and take leadership of students in all PGCE cohorts (new and returning)
    • Care for programme specific needs and academic well-being
    • Cohort specific orientations at the start of each new academic year
    • Coordinate and run cohort specific termly meetings, as well as additional meetings as required
    • Ensure the smooth running of the PGCE programme, in line with national (CHE, DHET, and SAQA) requirements in collaboration with the Head of Postgraduate and Professional Programme Management, and other academic staff
    • Work closely with the Head of Postgraduate and Professional Programme Management in addressing any concerns or challenges that may arise

     Coordination of workshops and/or enrichment events

    • Coordination of compulsory and/or supplementary workshops within the PGCE programme, as required
    • Planning and implementing additional academic and/or professional workshops, as required
    • Either teaching the workshops or assisting the Head of Learning and Teaching and/or the Learning & Teaching Coordinator(s) to source appropriate educators to teach the workshops
    • Drive the annual coordination of additional workshops and enrichment events on each campus
    • In collaboration with the Head of Postgraduate and Professional Programme Management, develop a programme and source guest speakers
    • Organise invitations, RSVPS, and other logistical arrangements as necessary
    • Coordinate additional academic initiatives and forums, such as Postgraduate and Faculty Seminars/Presentations on each campus
    • In collaboration with the Head of Postgraduate and Professional Programme Management, invite guest speakers to address students and educators on topical areas in HRM


    Assist WIL students with finding placement sites

    • Consult with Student Admin and Finance to ensure that students have completed all the prerequisite modules, and that fees are paid up to date prior to starting the WIL module
    • Identify possible organisations/agencies appropriate for PGCE placements
    • Contact organisations/agencies to set up placement meetings

    Network and liaise with organisations in the field

    • Recruit WIL sites and network with potential placement sites

    Mid-Placement Evaluation

    • Oversee students in the field and liaising with supervisors

     On-going contact with placement sites at the beginning, middle and end of placements

    • Check in with placement supervisors and co-ordinators via email and telephonically periodically throughout their time in the field


    Supervision of placement students

    • Supervisor a cohort of students during their WIL placement

     Recruit, contract and train WIL supervisors

    • Identify and interview potential supervisors in collaboration with HoWIL and Learning &Teaching Coordinator
    • Allocate all WIL Students supervisors
    • Work with HoWIL and Learning &Teaching Coordinator to contract WIL supervisors

     Students’ final assessment and evaluation

    • Read through and assess students final WIL report and complete all mark schedules, if the individual supervisor
    • Ensure that all grades are submitted timeously by the supervisors, if not the supervisor
    • Attend students oral presentations with the external and placement supervisor

     SACAP's Social Impact

    • Collate and compile statistics for SACAP’s annual Social Impact Report
    • Work collaboratively with the Head of Social Impact and/or the Marketing Department in compiling the Social Impact Report
    • Social Impact Event Planning: Partner with community organisations to host events, including the annual SACAP Mandela Day Initiative

    Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Stakeholder engagement and development of the Academic profile of SACAP

     General

    • Compliance with regular reporting and providing statistics as and when requested
    • Assist with PC process design, and policy development
    • Attendance at academic meetings, management/operational meetings etc
    • Take an active role in all campus events including but not limited to Open day, Festival of Learning, Orientation, Educator meetings, Graduation
    • Be evidence-based in initiatives and track outcomes
    • Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of the programmes and develop new methods aimed at greater success
    • Take an active role in continuing the relationship with alumni
    • Responsible for quality assurance in the delivery of the PGCE programme and works closely with the Head of Postgraduate and Professional Programme Management and Head of WIL in ensuring high standards are adhered to
    • Working alongside student support and development to ensure student retention, progression and throughput of the students in the PGCE cohorts

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • A minimum of a completed PGCE OR a Bachelor of Education (preferably a PGCE)
    • Registration with SACE is a requirement
    • 3-5 years’ experience in the basic education sector
