Piping Engineer - Sandton at Steinmuller Africa

Key Performance Areas:

Technical function

• Develop piping system specifications and layouts for various projects.
• Design piping systems and selecting materials.
• Analyse technical and operational data, evaluate failures and propose design changes.
• Perform technical calculations as required in the design process.
• Check technical calculations performed by other engineers or technicians.
• Ensure that all designs comply with client specifications and relevant codes.
• Write technical reports to convey design and investigation results and recommendations.
• Carry out site duties to ensure piping installation is per design.
• Interface with engineering department of the client and promote the company’s capabilities.
• Identify potential issues and proposing solutions.

Administrative function

• Allocate calculation and reporting numbers and revisions according to the specific requirements of small and large projects.
• Assist in the flow of drawings, calculations and reports through the checking and approval process.
• Report on hours spent on specific projects.
• Keep up to date with technical developments in the boiler and piping field.

Management function

• Manage projects with respect to time and money, progress and compliance with client specifications and relevant codes.
• Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements:

• B.Sc. or B.Eng. Engineering degree in the mechanical field.
• 5 Years’ post graduate experience preferably in piping design.
• ECSA registration as a Candidate Engineer.
• Knowledge and experience in high pressure and high temperature piping construction methodologies would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of utilizing relevant software used in the design and flexibility modelling of piping systems.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
