Plant Operator (Pietermaritburg Quarry) at Afrimat

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Be literate & functionally numerate
• 2-4 years in similar role/ environment
• Working knowledge of plant e.g. conveyors crushers etc
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Able to work individually and in a team at times
• Interpersonal skills
• Able to respond quickly in an emergency
• Good communications skills
• Pre-employment medical required
• Medically fit in terms of Mine Health and Safety Act

Duties and responsibilities (not limited to)

• Ensure for basic maintenance, safety, and efficient operation of the plant.
• Operate the plant according to its desired capacity and specifications.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on plant, while ensuring that the product is produced according to the right quality specifications.
• Work safely while maintaining a clean and neat working environment.
• Report any maintenance related problems and production related issues to the immediate superior.
• Adhere to H& S + Environmental programme standards + ensure safe working practices
• Ad hoc duties as required
• Ensure good housekeeping
• Adhere to Quality Assurance responsibility during production process by constantly monitoring and evaluating that a computerized maintenance strategy is employed to ensure absolute reliability and minimum down time.
• Acknowledge that Management may allocate additional tasks when tasks cannot be completed on a standard allocated job
• Carry out instructions given by superiors.
