Portfolio Product Manager Trade Finance at Vodacom

Role Purpose

• The Product Manager: Trade Finance role based within Vodacom Financial Services.

Role purpose: 

• As part of the broader Vodacom Financial Services strategy, the incumbent will need to develop, scale and manage a portfolio of lending products, taking them through the stages of the product life cycle as well as:
• Keep pace with the latest in industry & technology developments as well as the broader regulatory environment;
• Improve the overall revenue contribution and performance of lending products in Vodacom Financial Services;
• Form part of a cross-functional team, developing lending products that improve the overall trade value proposition across market segments;
   

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop innovative business lending solutions within VodaPay, VodaTrade, Vodacom Ordering solution as well as VFS own lending platform, VodaLend;
• Build a brand new portfolio with limited to no pre-existing processes, controls and systems;
• Third party contract negotiation;
• Manage a cross-functional team to create and maintain trade finance offerings;
• Development of the trade finance proposition and integration into the broader trade and payments ecosystem which will span multiple segments 
• Accountable for all relevant product documentation
• Defining business rules and working with customer experience teams to define and refine new and existing customer journeys
• Providing inputs and evaluation for financial business cases
• Work with Business development manager and marketing to create revenue projections and forecasts; and analyse and identify shortfalls and areas of improvement
• Provide insights to the broader team around innovations and developments  within the Business Lending and Fintech industry
• To regularly review launched products to ensure the performance is in line with initial assumptions and implement corrective measures if needed and also look at how to improve/enhance products
• Keep track of competitor launches and take measures to mitigate risks
• Daily, weekly and Monthly product performance reports and occasional presentations to senior management team
• Creating and managing product backlogs ensuring products and features make it all the way through ideation, design, development and ultimately scale

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Prior business lending product design and development experience is essential
• A detailed knowledge understanding of a the fast paced fintech lending industry is essential
• Understanding of regulatory requirements essential;
• Understanding of system requirements to launch digital lending offerings preferred;
• An understanding of the full supply chain and financial impact preferred.

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

• Matric essential
• Relevant 3/4 year Business degree essential
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience within the Product development essential
• Fintech or Business Lending experience preferred
