The successful incumbent will be responsible to electronically assemble graphics and text to create electronic files containing all components for packaging printing.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process artwork files for print production, ensuring they meet all technical specifications for packaging printing, including foiling, embossing, varnish profiles and die-cutting.
Review and troubleshoot files for errors, including colour accuracy, image resolution, and print specifications.
Adjust and correct file formats, fonts, and image settings to ensure optimal print quality.
Maintain and update digital proofing systems, checking for quality control.
Collaborate with designers, print production teams, and clients to address any issues or modifications needed.
Prepare preflight reports and ensure that all necessary corrections are made before production.
Manage colour separations, trapping, imposition, and other prepress functions.
Operate and maintain prepress equipment and software, ensuring they are functioning correctly.
The ideal candidate must fulfil the following criteria:
Proven experience as a Prepress Operator in the packaging printing industry.
Grade 12 and/or relevant qualification.
Trade certificate in Prepress will be an advantage.
Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Prinect, Microsoft and CNC (Cad).
Knowledge of contract colour proofing and trapping.
Knowledge of a bespoke packaging workflow will be an advantage.
High attention to detail and able to work under tight deadlines.
Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
