    Principal Advisor– Safety

    About The Role
    We are looking for a driven, operationally focused safety leader to join our newly created Safety Area of Expertise (AoE) team as a Principal Advisor – Safety. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your partnership building skills and your ability to lead strategic improvement. You’ll be a key player in building the Safety culture in a sustainable way across your region and beyond.

    Reporting to the Practice Lead Safety, you will be responsible for

    • Supporting assets in their journey to improve their safety culture through the implementation of the Safety Maturity Model
    • Providing high quality safety support and technical advice to our operational teams
    • Supporting development and progressive improvement of our Safety Standards so that they are simple and focused on control of our critical risks
    • Leading impactful and engaging 2nd line assurance activities
    • Providing coaching in incident investigation and corrective action
    • Fostering collaborative efforts to identify and share leading practices, drawing upon internal and external benchmarking
    • Working with a broad range of stakeholders in the deployment of the global HSES strategy by providing guidance and governance on key initiatives

    About You
    To succeed in this role, you have

    • 8 + years of experience in a role with safety responsibilities
    • Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Systems; standards and key risk management and assurance processes
    • A University degree in Health, Safety, engineering or a related field experience desired but not essential

    But most importantly, you are recognised for your

    • Ability to translate business requirements into practical application in an operational environment
    • Strong communication, problem solving and analysis skills
    • Demonstrated ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders in various contexts and from different background
    • Experience in mining or similar heavy industry would be considered as an asset
    • Ability to speak both English and French (spoken and written)
