    Principal Mechanical Engineer

    Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

    • Performing Mechanical Design Verification on designs by using Software or by first principles
    • Prepare, Review & Approve BMH, Crushing, Hoisting, Dewatering, Shaft Loading but not limited too Equipment Datasheets and Specifications
    • Prepare, Review & Approve sizing/development of mining equipment and equipment specifications
    • Prepare, Review & Approve Technical equipment requisitions required for procurement purposes
    • Prepare, Review & Approve Client/project standard specifications and design criteria
    • Manage and maintain the Equipment List
    • Manage, Oversee, Review & Approve Databook's and End of Job Documentation (E.O.J)
    • Perform Package Management of single Mechanical Equipment's and Multidisciplinary Packages, i.e. Hoisting, Crushing, Shaft Loading, BMH etc..
    • Completing tasks in accordance with the specific stages of the engineering design process
    • Conduct Site visitations to approve work carried out
    • Produce, Review & Approve Mining Underground Equipment scope of work, documents for procurement purposes
    • Collaborate with the drafting/design team to ensure all drawings and designs are in-line with project specifications.
    • Liaising with various departments to successfully complete the Mechanical (Underground Mining Equipment) Scope of Work
    • Perform, Review & Approve technical bid analysis & tabulation which will be used to select appropriate vendors
    • Review vendor information for technical detail and information
    • Provide solutions based on client requirements that are in line with the company's business model
    • Conduct Review & Approve technical investigations.
    • Assist in Leading Project progress, Interactive Planning Sessions and Kick-off meetings.
    • Prepares Man-hour estimates for Proposal
    • Develop strong working relationships with client and contractors
    • Maintain workshare relationships with other Worley Offices and Global
    • Integrated Delivery (GID), i.e. with assigned Mechanical Mining Equipment Engineer(s) for the project(s).
    • Assist in Management of change orders and scope of works
    • Assist in Resolving interdepartmental and client issues timeously; this includes
    • seeking higher-level authority, if required, i.e. Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer
    • Provide Commissioning assistance when required.
    • Conduct technical / feasibility studies and investigations.
    • Conduct integrity Audits on existing mine mechanical infrastructure.

    Essential Skills/Experience

    Education/ Minimum Requirements:

    • B.Sc. (Eng.); B.Eng., B. Tech, BEngTech (Honors) and Pr Eng. or Pr Tech Eng. with (ECSA)

    Experience:

    • 12+ years
    • EPC / EPCM Environment
    • Has a competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices.
    • Experience in mechanical infrastructure required for underground mining.
    • Estimating manhours for proposals
    • Writing proposal content
    • Intermediate Multi-Office Project Experience
    • Intermediate Multi-Project Phase Experience
    • Approving Mechanical Designs as a Registered Professional (Professional Seal)
    • Knowledge & experience with MS Office packages (create spreadsheets, registers, reports, presentations, workflows, etc.)
    • Knowledge of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.
    • Specialist Knowledge of International Codes, i.e. ISO, ASME, CEMA, SANS etc. of practice relevant to the industry
    • Knowledge of National and International Standards
    • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Design & Principles
    • Proficient with Engineering tools and Software
    • Knowledge and ability to perform Technical Evaluations for standard and nonstandard (requisitioned) materials and construction contracts and to be part of construction bid evaluation meetings
    • Knowledge of Project Planning, Cost control, procurement & contracts
    • Processes including document control
    • Extensive Knowledge of Bill of Quantities

    • Ability to work as part of a team or independently when required
    • Good problem solver and meticulous & analytical
    • Escalate issues timeously to Principal Mechanical Engineer
    • Technical accuracy, completeness of data and adherence to the task
    • Technical Writing ability
    • Ability to work in a diverse team and work environment that is globally based
    • Reports to the Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer on the Project
    • Willing to participate in technical Peer Reviews when required
