    Private Law Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (3 Positions) Job ID: 5681

    • Proof of registration with a Professional Body (if applicable).
    • A copy of your driver’s license (if applicable).
    • Confirmation of employment from current employer / last employer if unemployed (only applicable to external applicants).

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Private Law.
    • Provide study leadership at postgraduate level.
    • Initiate, sustain and provide quality research outputs.
    • Participate in community engagement initiatives.
    • Recruit and supervise postgraduate students.
    • Attract external funding.
    • Perform general administration duties as applicable at university level.

    Inherent requirements:

    Lecturer

    • LLD/ PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment).

    or

    • Master’s degree in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which an LLD/PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10 MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.

    Senior Lecturer

    • LLD/PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. 

    Associate Professor

    • LLD/PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of research papers at national and international conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific scientific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Proven experience in the supervision of graduated master’s and doctoral degree students.

    Professor

    • LLD/PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10.
    • Proven international recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a particular area of academic scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Demonstrated successful supervision of graduated master’s-degree and preferably graduated doctoral students.
    • Proven experience of presentation of papers at national and international scholarly conferences.

    Recommendations:

    • With regard to the positions of Associate Professor and Professor an NRF rating will be an advantage.
