Product Controller at Absa Group Limited (Absa)

Job Summary

To ensure accurate financial reporting and maintenance of a robust control environment. The Product Controller will be tasked with performing month-end reporting procedures including comprehensive management reporting, reconciliation and substantiation of account balances and financial, tax and regulatory reporting. Further responsibilities include performing independent valuation assessments on the equity and property investments, budgeting process and facilitation of the external audit process and preparation of financial statements.

Job Description

• Implement financial and payment controls to ensure accurate reporting and standing data
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls
• Partner with and support the respective FO stakeholders
• Produce MI around business e.g., PnL reporting, units sold, properties remaining, cost and balance sheet analysis
• Review and preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS
• Facilitation of the external audit process and engagements with the audit team
• Performing month-end procedures i.e., input to management reporting, reconciliation, substantiation of account balances, financial and regulatory reporting.

1. Accounting – posting to the General Ledger and Budget system accurate and timely information
2. Substantiation of the balance sheet – ensuring the full balance sheet can be substantiated and presenting in GLRS meetings
3. Performing the tax and deferred tax calculations and VAT packs for respective legal entities.
4. Presentation of monthly financial performance to FO stakeholders quarterly reporting to Board of directors

• Facilitating annual budget and forecast processes (STP, MTP, RAF). Variance analysis between budget/project approvals and actual performance
• Assist business with roll-out of any change or adhoc initiatives
• Data ownership – Ensuring the quality and accuracy of the data going downstream to other infrastructure areas including operations
• Control environment – Overseeing the control environment in which the business operates
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls
• Perform financial modeling and investment valuations

Education

• Bachelor's Degree: Financial Sciences (Required)
