Take ownership and responsibility for the detailed design and improvement of components and sub-assemblies of high and medium complexity. Work would include:
Defining design requirements and specifications for components and subsystems.
Generate and present design concepts and preliminary cost estimates.
Apply a systematic approach to evaluate and compare different design options.
Manage generating accurate 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings
To produce a design file including all design calculations, correspondence and communication used to produce the detailed design.
Assist with the manufacture of a pre-production machine.
Perform necessary engineering changes to assist & improve material preparation & fabrication processes.
Technical support for manufacturing facility, other internal & external customers.
Assist cross functional teams with technical assistance e.g. Manufacturing Jigs and Fixtures etc.
Perform sign off activities in accordance to sign off procedure.
Be responsible to keep record of own daily time utilisation.
REQUIREMENTS:
B.Eng (Mech) or B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3-5 years post graduate experience preferably in the automotive or mobile fabrication industries.
Superior technical analysis skills and ability to interpret and apply engineering principles to a practical and cost-effective solution.
The skill and ability to conceptualise ideas based on design philosophies and project guidelines.
A logic approach to fault finding principles and attention to detail.
Good understanding of engineering change & shop floor manufacturing control processes.
Working knowledge of Creo Parametric software or any CAD Software.
Good communication skills & ability to interact with other production line, field support, suppliers & customers.
Previous experience in Design on Welded Structures, Mobile Hydraulics, Pneumatic and Drive line systems will be an added advantage.
Previous experience in the earth moving equipment environment will be an added advantage.
Ability to manage daily time utilisation and workload - organise, plan and execute medium sized projects.
Knowledge of Bell range of ADT's, Tractors and Trailers will be an added advantage.
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages (Word,Excel, powerpoint, will be an added advantage.
