    Professional Nurse Coordinator

    Purpose of the position:

    • To provide a comprehensive wellness mobile health service by providing HIV testing and counselling services linked to screening and diagnosing clients for TB/STI’s. Provision of treatment and clinical care to HIV & TB patients and ensure successful linkage to care and adherence with specific focused on the sex worker.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s degree (B Cur Nursing) from four-year college or university
    • NIMART trained & certified
    • 2 years of experience in nursing after registration
    • Clinical HIV management experience is mandatory
    • Dispensing license
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional
    • Computer literate in MS Office
    • Valid code 08 driver’s licence
    • Proficiency in English and at least one other South African language
    • Clear criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Develop an outline of presentation in TB/HIV service provision
    • Coordinate visits screenings to sex work community on outreach with collaborating organisation team
    • Maintain relations with DOH managers by providing feedback on number of clients seen at sites
    • Mobilise with team in walk and talk programmes - distribution of pamphlets
    • Work with the Peer Educators to mobilise sex workers to understand the importance of knowing their HIV status and access HIV testing services
    • Order monthly stock of medications needed for Wellness and HCT programmes, ensure there are no stock outs
    • Conduct physical examination and proper history taking of clients seen on the mobile.
    • Provide appropriate syndromic treatment for STI’s, fertility planning and other health related illnesses
    • Ensure accurate documentation of stock in and stock out
    • Keep records of medication dispensed.
    • Provide health/HIV screening to allocated areas every three to six months
    • Reach successful referrals of 90% for HIV positives for ART
    • Train to complete the PI VCT register and monthly report new cases
    • Compile a record on the confirmed clinic the clients will attend and document referral or LTF using Tools and algorithm
    • Regular programme in tracing clients by telephone and visits to sex work locations
    • Ensure proficiency testing (PT) is done recorded as required
    • Meet quarterly with local GP’s and other stakeholder/NGO’s on TB/HIV service provision
    • Meet quarterly to collaborate in developing and conducting support groups with collaborating organisation.
    • Meet quarterly to report on progress
    • Attend HAST Information meetings
    • Report quarterly on programme progress
    • Meet quarterly with facility managers on sites activities
    • Submit monthly report on the number of new cases
    • Compile and maintain a record on the confirmed clinic the clients will attend
    • Weekly follow-up on referred clients by telephone, home visits or other
    • Document successful referrals above 90%
    • Conduct regular monitoring and support site visits to peer educators
    • Monitor condom and lubricant stock at project sites and arrange proactive distribution by the team
    • Perform related office administration duties of the programme
    • Participate in learning and development opportunities (trainings, workshops, information sessions etc.)
    • Additional responsibilities delegated by managers from time to time
    • Attend briefing meetings, debriefing sessions, staff/site meetings and other meetings as asked to do so on regular basis
    • Act as a role model to strengthen positive behaviour change of sex workers and peer educators
    • Adhere to waste disposal
    • Adhere to needle stick injury policy
    • Engage in sex work support work including helping coordinate and/or manage support groups
    • Participate in sex work’s support meetings and structures as directed by Key Populations programme manager
    • Participate in clinic sensitivity trainings
    • Tracking and monitoring success of project
    • Any other duties as assigned by the line manager

    • Advanced negotiation skills
