    Professional Nurse Coordinator

    About the Job

    Purpose of Position

    • The Professional Nurse Coordinator is responsible for clinical consultations, diagnosis and treatment. Directly manages outreach teams, clinic sensitisation and up-skilling for the key populations at uMgungundlovu Region. Secondarily supports other THC mobile teams in Pietermaritzburg and other regions with key populations support.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Diploma /Bachelor's degree in Nursing
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing after registration
    • Experience coordinating and/or managing health service delivery projects or research studies
    • SANC registered as a Professional Nurse 
    • NIMART certified and experience in ART Management
    • Valid dispensing Licence
    • Intermediate level computer literacy (Excel)
    • Valid code 08 driver's licence
    • Fluent in English or any other South African languages

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Conduct regular meetings to discuss progress and address challenges to continuously improve programme implementation.
    • Liaise with public health facilities and other relevant role-players – attending meetings etc.
    • Work with the Site Manager and the outreach staff to ensure the sensitisation of service providers to the needs of sex workers
    • Provide primary health care (PHC) services and comprehensive HAST services
    • Work with the Site Manager to ensure the implementation of the programme's operational plan
    • Weekly quality assurance cycle for reliable and accurate HIV patient results
    • Consolidate data and other information from the team, prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports to M&E Officer and Regional Coordinator

    Skills and Competencies    

    • An understanding of the challenges facing sex workers in the health context
    • Ability to communicate and work well with sex workers in the provision of health services.
    • In-depth understanding and knowledge of legislative requirements, acceptable practices and procedures.
    • Report-writing skills
    • Planning skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Non-judgmental, trustworthy and empathetic personality
    • Target driven and able to lead a team
    • Good interpersonal skills, including being a team player
    • Demonstrate a strong professional attitude and behaviour at all times
    • Ability to work non-traditional hours, which may include weekends from time to time
    • Good attention to detail and accuracy
