    Professional Nurse: General – 19 posts (5-month contract)

    Salary:

    • Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
    • Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
    • Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
    • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).
    • Reference: ECHEALTH/PNG/AMA/S16/10/10/2025
    • Centre: Amathole District

    Requirements:

    • Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • Proof of current registration with SANC.

    Experience:

    • Grade 1: No experience required.
    • Grade 2: A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
    • Grade 3: A minimum of twenty (20) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.

    Duties:

    • Execute nursing duties and functions proficiently within the prescripts of applicable legislation, policies, and guidelines.
    • Provide and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
    • Monitor patient activities and perform standard nursing procedures in accordance with established policies and clinical standards.
    • Adopt a multidisciplinary approach to promote holistic patient and client care.
    • Maintain clinical competence by applying and adhering to scientific principles of nursing practice.
    • Ensure accurate and complete patient record keeping and proper documentation.
    • Maintain client satisfaction through quality service delivery, innovation, and professional nursing care, upholding the Batho Pele principles and Patient Rights Charter.
    • Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources within the unit.
    • Render quality nursing care and assume overall management of the unit in the absence of the Operational Manager.
    • Evaluate staff performance according to the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
    • Motivate, coach, and mentor nursing personnel to promote professional development and effective teamwork.
    • Manage and control scheduled drugs in line with legal and institutional requirements.
    • Be available for day and night duties as required.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor to support service delivery.
