Professional Nurse: General – 19 posts (5-month contract) at Eastern Cape Department: Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism

Salary:

• Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
• Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
• Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
• Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).

Requirements:

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Proof of current registration with SANC.

Experience:

• Grade 1: No experience required.
• Grade 2: A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 3: A minimum of twenty (20) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.

Duties:

• Execute nursing duties and functions efficiently and professionally within the prescripts of applicable legislation and departmental policies.
• Provide and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Monitor patient activities and perform standard nursing procedures in accordance with approved policies and clinical guidelines.
• Apply a multidisciplinary approach to promote holistic patient and client care.
• Maintain clinical competence by implementing scientific principles of nursing care.
• Ensure accurate and complete patient record keeping and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Uphold client satisfaction through quality service delivery, professional nursing practice, and adherence to the Batho Pele principles and Patients’ Rights Charter.
• Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources within the unit.
• Render quality nursing care and assume management responsibilities of the unit in the absence of the Operational Manager.
• Evaluate staff performance in line with the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
• Motivate, coach, and mentor nursing personnel to promote continuous professional growth.
• Manage and control scheduled drugs in accordance with relevant legislation and institutional procedures.
• Be available for day and night duties as operationally required.
• Perform any other duties as delegated by the supervisor to support effective healthcare service delivery.
