Professional Officer at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A three-year tertiary qualification in Geomatics, Geoinformatics or GIS field
• A minimum of five (5) years ‘relevant experience in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Geospatial or GIS
• Professional registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) will be advantageous.

Key Performance Areas

• Support department with geospatial data and products including; 3D building modelling, digital elevation modelling and remote sensing data
• Assist with the management and dissemination of geospatial data according to the Spatial Data Infrastructure Act
• Carry out and co-ordinate geospatial projects and ensure accurate information is captured, processed and disseminated
• Assist with contract management for geospatial tenders
• Process, update and maintain geospatial data, layers and metadata
• Acquire and standardise data from various formats
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Provide specialist geospatial advice and analysis to City departments and attend to public information enquiries
• Stay abreast with current geospatial technologies and software
• Ensure compliance with geospatial data standards; and support the implementation of new remote sensing and geospatial technologies.
