    Programme Administrator.4.05

    Main Purpose of the Job:

    The incumbent will coordinate a complex, interdisciplinary programme, and work closely with the GLU chairperson, the GLU Programme coordinator and the GLU executive committee at Wits. The work involves financial management and reporting to both international and domestic funders, managing financials for multiple projects, international liaison with funders, oversee the functions of the Programme coordinator such as postgraduate student liaison, coordinating and overseeing short courses, and liaising with trade unions.  The Programme administrator will also be responsible for general administrative work and financial processing related to running an international academic programme. The administrator will also be required to assist with short courses, including working on the short course system and the supervision of the Programme coordinator and administrative assistant and various seminars and conference activities associated with the programme throughout the year.

    Brief Description        

    Main Duties: 

    • Financial Administration, including managing, budgeting, and reporting for multiple income streams.
    • Academic Coordination & Support of the Postgraduate programme and the short courses.
    • Provide efficient Administrative & Secretarial Functions for the Programme and oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Programme.
    • Work closely with the GLU Programme Chair, and supervise GLU staff members.
    • Advise GLU Programme Chair on administrative processes.
    • Event Management for international and national conferences, workshops colloquia and seminars.
    • Provide efficient organisation and support for the International Dimension of the Programme.
    • Supervise staff team and coordinate ongoing marketing efforts of the Programme.

    Essential Requirements

    • Approximately 5+ Years Work Experience in University Administration, with experience in both financial reporting and academic administration
    • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) is highly desirable (e.g., Commerce, Business administration, or Social Sciences if also financial training and experience)
    • Experience in Events Management
    • Full Microsoft Office Suite (Especially Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • SIMS and AMS
    • Knowledge of University Policies and Procedures (for both finance and academic regulations).
    • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively
    • Proven ability to assist in the compilation of written reports
    • Ability to work in a team and with people internally and externally, and at all levels of the organisation 

    Desired Requirements

    • Honours/Masters degree in Business Administration (or other relevant area)
    • Events Management Certificate
    • Office Management Certificate
