    Project Manager

    What's the role?

BMA is looking for an energetic and highly organised Project Manager to ensure the smooth functioning of multiple industry development programmes, most of which are standalone not-for-profit companies (NPC). This role is central to our consulting team’s ability to deliver impactful services to clients on time and budget while minimising stress in the process. This role represents a genuine opportunity to learn, lead and contribute to meaningful change in South Africa.

    What will you be doing?

    • For each programme:
      • Own and act as superuser of integrated project, resource and budget management software.
      • Engage programme lead to understand and build out annual plan and budget.
      • Monitor, manage and report monthly on resource and budget utilisation and forecasts.
      • Monitor delivery against programme plans/budgets and flag issues.
      • Record and report on client engagement and programme impact in collaboration with programme teams.
      • Oversee preparation of meeting pack for quarterly NPC Exco meetings, comprising agenda, progress report, management accounts and other ad hoc documents as required.
      • Oversee preparation of NPC annual report and AGM.
      • Oversee preparation of funder reports.
      • Manage programme contracts with clients and sub-contractors.
      • Manage new/existing member enquiries and escalate to the relevant programme owner where necessary.
      • Oversee general programme administration and compliance.

    Across programmes:

    • Standardise all of the above across all programmes and codify in SOPs.
    • Lead, motivate and coach a small team towards total reliability and operational excellence.

    Who are you?

    • You are highly organised and gravitate towards advanced planning and setting up systems rather than firefighting.
    • You like standardising routine work to ensure efficiency and enable continuous improvement.
    • You are a self-starter – you think independently and get a kick out of crossing things off your to-do list.
    • You are comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and have excellent time management skills to organise and prioritise tasks to meet multiple deadlines without feeling overwhelmed.
    • You are tech savvy, having good working knowledge of the MS Office suite, but also comfortable exploring new software solutions that make work easier, quicker or better.
    • You have strong attention to detail.
    • You are comfortable with digital documentation management, storage and sharing.
    • You have an eye for basic design and take pride in creating professional looking, aesthetically pleasing outputs.
    • You are good with numbers and can easily create reports that are neat and straightforward to understand.
    • You have professional writing skills suitable for formal reporting.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Tertiary qualification (diploma or degree) in business administration or similar.
    • Minimum 2 years programme management experience, including 1 year managing others.
    • Experience with project and programme management software.

    Beneficial Requirements:

    • Recognised project management qualification/certification.
    • Experience managing multiple medium to large scale programmes simultaneously.
    • Experience in a consulting environment with project-based work and time-based billing
    • Basic financial and/or management accounting experience

BMA is an Equal Opportunity employer and preference will be given to Previously Disadvantaged Individuals as described in the Employment Equity Act.
