    Project Manager - Durban

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    • Maximise specification performance and create demand for our products and/or systems in order to drive product leadership proposition as well as drive specification vs order closure.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Qualifications required to fulfil the role

    • Diploma or relevant industry qualification in construction/building disciplines is preferred or equivalent industry experience.
    • Drivers licence.

    Specific Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills required to fulfil the role

    • 3 years  sales experience with a focus in specification sales.
    • Proven technical expert within their field.
    • Proven record in sales/selling techniques and cold calling skills would be beneficial.
    • Successful promotion of solutions /specifications.
    •  Ability to identify innovative solutions.
    • Ability to interpret technical designs/drawings.
    • Knowledge of construction process stages and ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency within a customers’ construction programme.
    • Understanding of current market legislation, e.g. SANS 10 400 and the Green Star Rating System and the practical implications and impacts within a business.
    • Supply chain awareness, understanding the process and identifying/targeting opportunities.
    • Good working knowledge of current design packages e.g. AutoCAD.
    • Drivers licence.
    • Candidate needs to be able bodied, enthusiastic, energetic, and willing to travel daily.
    • Candidate would need to demonstrate ‘hunter’ mentality, be proactive and approach challenges with a positive disposition as well as agility.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Sales strategy execution

    • Build sustainable customer relationships in order to maximise market advantage. This is to be achieved by focussing on the whole value chain e.g  developers; designers; specialist distributors and clients cultivating  sustainable relationships at concept stage, through all the project stages to site level.
    • Proactively identify new opportunities for enhanced specifications, uncovering and understanding these through application of trained techniques, supply chain knowledge, commercial awareness and in depth knowledge of customers’ businesses.
    • Ensure for profitable development of project pipeline, specifying the range of solutions  including value-add and new products, actively engaging with specifiers and influencers, such as Developers, Quantity Surveyors, Structural Engineers and Sub-contractors at concept stage (PSA 1) to promote Drywall instead of Conventional Brick or AAC Block / thereby creating solid relationships, growing sub-contractor loyalty   .
    • Ensure follow though from specification to application in line with KPI to ensure that you deliver sales revenue for the region.
    • Provide on-site technical support for key customers on project sites within a sales region, working as part of an integrated regional team to drive our Product Leadership proposition to develop customer satisfaction.
    • Manage the QS function in the region ensuring that projects are serviced professionally from a QS point of view.

    Administration

    • Adherence to Company reporting procedure/commercial admin systems, offering appropriate feedback and information ensuring that strict  observance to ethical codes of conduct and maintenance of confidentiality at all times
    • Demand planning and forecasting for Regional projects at requested date
    • Successful management of CRM Project leads through specifiers where applicable to better track project pipeline.
    • Achieve a high level of forecast accuracy in line with regional KPI to ensure stock availability for in line with project demands.
    • Responsibility for all safety aspects within area of responsibility, to ensure a particular focus on improved driving standards, and reduce safety incidents.
    • Drive adherence to the business internal control requirements and budget targets.
    • Prepare cost estimates for product systems, construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service and rate establishment by building system type.

    Operational Support

    • Responsible for training of customer base on existing products, new products and value add propositions.
    • Assist and /or give presentations to regional teams as necessary, as well as to customer base with focus on all aspects of product / system performances.
    • To work across the supply chain, internal and external, engaging Quantity Surveyors, main Contractors and influencers to promote system solutions
    • Responsibility for safety aspects within area of responsibility and instilling awareness within one’s team members.
